Kratie City Residents Urge Authorities to Install Lighting for Nighttime Road Safety

Residents in Kratie city, Kratie province, and travelers passing through the area have requested the provincial authorities to inspect and study the installation of public lighting along the road from the base of the Mekong River bridge to the Tiger roundabout. Currently, this area lacks lighting, making nighttime travel difficult and posing risks to the safety of travelers. According to residents, there are no lights installed yet at the Tiger roundabout and at the intersection of National Road 60B leading to the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge. Residents are urging authorities to inspect, study, and install a public lighting network, as well as automatic solar lighting systems, to increase illumination and ensure the safety of citizens traveling at night, thereby preventing potential traffic accidents. Sources indicate that the section of National Road 60B from the roundabout at the bridge's base (east and west banks) to the Tiger roundabout, and from the base of the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge to Prek Te bridge, has traffic signposts but no solar lighting systems installed yet, posing a risk for travelers at night. Notably, a fatal traffic accident occurred in this section recently. The residents' request coincides with Kratie province's remarkable transformation, marked by significant infrastructure achievements and active improvements in urban aesthetics, which are boosting economic growth and internal connectivity.
