Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs Trains Public Relations Officers for the AI Era

The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs has launched a training program for public relations officers (Pranata Humas) across the country to address the complexities of information dissemination in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to enhance the government's capacity for accurate information dissemination and to counter the rapidly spreading disinformation and misleading information. The advancement of AI technology has dramatically altered the speed and reach of information transmission, necessitating new strategies and skill sets for government agencies to maintain effective communication with the public. In particular, the generation and dissemination of disinformation using AI pose an increasing risk of social disruption and erosion of trust in government. Through this training, the Ministry of Home Affairs intends to foster the ability of public relations officers to understand the characteristics of AI and utilize it for more effective information dissemination. Concurrently, it is expected that guidance will be provided on concrete methods for identifying and preventing the spread of disinformation in the AI era, as well as communication strategies to gain public trust. This training targets public relations officers working in local governments and related agencies throughout Indonesia, promoting the development of personnel who play a crucial role in ensuring government transparency and accountability.
