South Sulawesi's Wastra Heritage Market Records Rp1.35 Billion in Transactions

The South Sulawesi Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded the value of the Wastra Heritage Market 2026 transaction reaching IDR 1.35 billion, accompanied by the distribution of UMKM financing of IDR 18.27 billion as part of strengthening the region's creative economy. The Head of the BI South Sulawesi Representative Office, Rizki Ernadi Wimanda in Makassar, Sunday, said that the activity was part of the series of Sulsel Creative Works (KKS) and South Sulawesi Digital Festival (Digifest) 2026 to expand the market for culture-based products to the international level. "This activity is a series of Sulsel Creative Works and South Sulawesi Digital Festival 2026 which encourages culture-based products to enter the global market," he said. According to Rizki, BI together with the South Sulawesi Provincial Government and various partners continue to nurture textile MSMEs so that they are able to compete in both the national and international markets. He said that the results of the training were beginning to be seen, including through the promotion of one of the works of the designer who was trained to Turkey in the previous year's implementation. Meanwhile, the textile UMKM perpetrator Yane Banna said that the Wastra Heritage Market is a means of introducing products with local cultural motifs to a wider market, including prospective buyers from outside the region and abroad. In addition to being a promotional event for UMKM products, Wastra Heritage Market also encourages the development of the textile, fashion, culinary, and creative sectors as part of the strengthening of the creative economy of South Sulawesi.
