Player dies after lightning strike during football match in Mudon

A player died after being struck by lightning during the Mudon Township Men's Free Football Tournament held at the 400-meter Stadium in Mudon Township, Mon State, on the afternoon of September 22, the Mon State Football Federation announced. It is reported that during the semi-final match between the Lion City team and the Taung Pone Thua team in the Mudon Township Men's Free Football Tournament, around 6 minutes and 30 seconds into the second half extra time, it rained and lightning struck, causing the referee and all players from both sides to fall face down. After everyone got up, it was discovered that Ko Than Toe Aung (aka Sa Sa), a player for the Lion City team, had not gotten up. Upon checking on him and performing CPR, he briefly regained consciousness, but then became unresponsive again. The Red Cross paramedics provided first aid and rushed him to the township hospital. According to the announcement, despite receiving oxygen and CPR at the hospital, he did not regain consciousness and passed away. The deceased, 29-year-old Ko Than Toe Aung, was a resident of the San Pyay Ward in Mawlamyine Township and was known to be a football enthusiast.
