Cambodia and Singapore Boost Economic Cooperation Ahead of ASEAN Chairmanship
Cambodia Chamber of Commerce President Kith Meng met with the Singaporean Ambassador to discuss strengthening business and investment cooperation. They confirmed efforts to enhance regional economic integration and collaboration in preparation for Singapore's 2027 ASEAN chairmanship, focusing on the ASEAN Power Grid and food security.
On September 15, 2026, Mr. Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and ASEAN Business Advisory Council Chairman for Cambodia, held a working lunch meeting with H.E. Steven Pang, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia. The meeting was organized with the aim of promoting business and investment cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore. During the discussion, in-depth views were exchanged on business opportunities, regional economic integration, and strengthening partnerships between the private sectors of both countries. Particularly, as Singapore is set to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027, the meeting underscored the importance of building closer cooperation between the private sectors to seize new opportunities and enhance the region's economic resilience. Furthermore, both parties actively discussed strategic issues facing the ASEAN region, with a particular focus on attracting investment from Singapore to Cambodia in various potential sectors. These included: 1) The ASEAN Power Grid, aimed at enhancing energy security and promoting clean energy connectivity in the region; and 2) Food Security, with the objective of strengthening resilience and ensuring the stability of food supply chains for all ASEAN nations.
