Taiwan's Largest EV Bike Maker Installs Battery Swap Stations in HCMC

Taiwanese electric motorcycle giant Gogoro is preparing for a full-scale entry into the Vietnamese market. The company has recently been observed installing its battery swap stations, known as GoStations, at at least three locations in Ho Chi Minh City. The installed stations are outdoors and bear the branding of Castrol and Gogoro. Each station is equipped to hold 30 batteries, with some already populated. Gogoro, founded in 2011, is renowned for its model that emphasizes battery swapping over direct charging. Since launching its first bike in 2015, it has expanded its GoStation network across Asian markets, particularly in Taiwan. In 2025, Gogoro sold 28,176 electric motorcycles in Taiwan, securing a leading 57.3% market share. Including partners utilizing the Powered by Gogoro Network (PBGN) platform, this ecosystem accounts for approximately 68% of the total market. The PBGN program allows third-party manufacturers to design and produce electric motorcycles that integrate with Gogoro's battery system and open swap network. Gogoro's entry into Vietnam is being facilitated through a joint venture with Castrol, announced in February 2025. This joint venture, Castrol Gogoro Mobility JSC, will see Gogoro provide technology and system construction support, while Castrol will handle sales and operations. The company was established in Ho Chi Minh City in August 2025, with Gogoro Network holding a 49.8% stake and Castrol Singapore holding 50%. Furthermore, Gogoro's electric motorcycle model, the SuperSport (model code GSB6AE), has completed the necessary procedures for energy consumption disclosure in Vietnam. This model features a top speed of 96 km/h and is equipped with ABS and Traction Control System (TCS). In Taiwan, the SuperSport is priced at approximately 83 to 92 million Vietnamese Dong (around $3,200 - $3,600 USD). The Vietnamese electric motorcycle market is witnessing intensified infrastructure development, with other players like VinFast, Selex Motors, and Honda Vietnam also deploying battery swap stations.
