Phnom Penh's Sen Sok District Resumes Tuol Sampou Canal Cleaning for Rainy Season Flood Prevention

The Sen Sok District Administration has resumed cleaning and maintenance work on the Tuol Sampou Canal, starting from September 13, 2026. This follows previous canal restoration efforts. The cleaning operation focuses on removing garbage, weeds, and water hyacinths that obstruct the canal. The work spans from the area behind Borey Orchid Place in Damnak Village, Kok Khleang Commune, to the stone bridge on Maha Upaseka Dy Pok Boulevard in Krang Thnong Commune. The district administration stated that the objective is to ensure the canal is clean and open, facilitating swift and efficient water flow to the Tuol Sampou pumping station on Chhneah Chhneah Boulevard in Khmum Commune. Furthermore, continuous cleaning and maintenance of the canal are part of preparations to prevent and reduce the risk of flooding for homes, roads, and infrastructure during the rainy season, thereby ensuring the efficiency of the local drainage system. In parallel, the Sen Sok District Administration urges residents living along the Tuol Sampou Canal to cooperate in maintaining hygiene and the environment by refraining from dumping garbage, waste, or other items into the canal.
