Takeo Province Urges School Management to Lead Drug Abuse Prevention Efforts

Efforts to combat drug abuse are being intensified in Takeo Province, southern Cambodia. On September 25, 2026, Mr. Yoan Sovannath, Deputy Governor and Secretary-General of the Provincial Drug Control Committee, stressed that school administrators are the "commanders" in preventing and suppressing drug problems. He emphasized the importance of school management in safeguarding the health of young people and nurturing potential human resources for national development. His remarks came during the opening ceremony of a seminar aimed at enhancing knowledge about drug issues and the "App NoDrug" for middle school administrators throughout the province. Mr. Sovannath urged school administrators to widely disseminate knowledge related to drug problems and the benefits of the "App NoDrug" to eradicate drug issues within the community. Major General Lim Tonghuot, Director of the Department of Dissemination, Education, and Public Relations of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD), conveyed a message from HE Senior Minister Neth Savoeun, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the NACD. HE Senior Minister Neth Savoeun praised the contributions of all stakeholders in Takeo Province to the fight against drugs, particularly within the education sector, which is a crucial focus for all families. He urged teachers to convey accurate information about drug issues and the benefits of the "NoDrug" mobile application through students to their families and communities. According to a report by Mr. Nim Yuthea, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sports, Takeo Province has over 500 educational institutions, both public and private, with a total student enrollment exceeding 220,000.
