Despite accounting for less than 5% of the total number of enterprises, the FDI sector generated over VND 3.86 quadrillion in net revenue last year, equivalent to over 31% of the city's total. The sector's held capital reached nearly VND 5.5 quadrillion, a 65.5% increase from 2020. In reality, foreign direct investment has continuously flowed into Ho Chi Minh City in recent times. According to Ho Chi Minh City Statistics, registered foreign capital in 2025 reached USD 8.2 billion (a 21.8% increase). In the first half of this year, this figure reached USD 6.8 billion, an increase of over 114% compared to the same period last year. Non-state enterprises constitute the largest number, accounting for 95.2% of the total, with 282,416 units. This sector holds capital exceeding VND 11 quadrillion and achieved net revenue of VND 7.4 quadrillion last year. Additionally, the economic hub has 661,462 individual business establishments, representing 12.6% of the country's total. These are primarily engaged in trade and services, employing over a million people. Meanwhile, many individual production households in the industrial and construction sectors are showing a trend towards model transformation or operational contraction under the impact of digital transformation.
