We are currently conducting a feasibility study for the project," Obrin said on Saturday (11/7), as quoted by Antara. Currently, Papua Pegunungan does not have a provincial government-owned hospital that can serve as a referral center for the eight regencies in the region. The existing hospitals are owned and managed by their respective regency governments. Therefore, the presence of a provincial hospital is deemed crucial for handling patients with conditions that cannot be managed at the regency-level health facilities. According to Obrin, the current hospitals can only handle approximately 70 to 75 percent of medical cases. Cases with higher complexity require more advanced services. The provincial hospital is expected to provide more complete health services, including handling the remaining 20 to 25 percent of advanced medical cases that require more modern facilities and specialized medical personnel. To realize this plan, the Ministry of Health will conduct a feasibility study in collaboration with the Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government and the Jayawijaya Regency Government.
