Vietnam Strengthens Diplomatic Ties Through International Visits, Aiming for Deeper Economic and Political Cooperation

Vietnam is actively strengthening its diplomatic ties and deepening economic and political cooperation through a series of high-level visits by its leaders. Recent reports indicate that the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and national leadership are prioritizing enhanced relations with key countries including South Korea, Russia, France, and Mongolia. In engagements with South Korea, the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman urged Korean companies to expand their investments in Vietnam, particularly in priority areas such as infrastructure, semiconductors, large-scale AI data centers, energy, and seaports. He also called for the sharing of South Korea’s experience in technology development and commercialization. This reflects Vietnam's ambition to adopt advanced technologies and upgrade its domestic industries amid its continued economic growth. Regarding relations with Russia, the General Secretary of the CPV and President expressed confidence in the strong, substantive, and effective development of their comprehensive strategic partnership. This sentiment underscores Vietnam's intention to balance geopolitical stability with economic engagement, aiming to contribute to regional and global peace and stability through its ties with Russia. In its relations with France, a "historic opportunity" was identified for both nations. France is seen as a potential "gateway" for Vietnam to access the European Union (EU), while Vietnam can serve as France's "entry point" for deeper engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Joint cultural and educational projects are expected to strengthen social bonds and build a solid foundation for the comprehensive strategic partnership. With Mongolia, cooperation documents are anticipated to be signed during the National Assembly Chairman's visit, establishing a framework for greater exchanges in lawmaking, supervision, and decision-making on major national issues. This indicates Vietnam's pursuit of political and economic cooperation beyond the ASEAN region. These diplomatic endeavors are part of Vietnam's strategy to solidify its international standing and mobilize external resources for achieving its development goals. Strengthening partnerships with advanced economies like South Korea and France, in particular, is expected to boost Vietnam's industrial restructuring and technological innovation.
