Heavy rain possible in 7 regions and states

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced on June 30 at 8 AM that heavy rains are possible in some areas of seven regions and states, including Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, and Tanintharyi regions, and Mon, Kayin, and Rakhine states, from July 3 to 10, with thunderstorms occurring in scattered to widespread areas. It is said that such heavy rains are possible in the seven regions and states due to the strengthening of the monsoon in the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, and the possibility of atmospheric instability in the northern Bay of Bengal. It is also stated that during these periods, squalls may occur occasionally along the Myanmar coast and in offshore waters, and high waves are possible. During squalls, winds may reach speeds of 30 to 35 miles per hour on the sea and land, and wave heights may be around 8 to 10 feet along the Myanmar coast and in offshore waters. Due to the possibility of natural disasters such as strong winds, sudden floods, and landslides along with heavy rainfall, residents living near elevated areas are advised to be aware of the risk of landslides, and residents living near small rivers and streams are advised to be aware of the risk of floods and overflows. Furthermore, domestic flights, nearshore and offshore fishing vessels, and ships in the coastal and offshore waters of Myanmar are also notified to take precautions in advance.
