West Java Chamber of Commerce Dispute: Rp20 Billion Lawsuit Enters Final Stage

The lawsuit filed by Nizar Sungkar concerning the dispute over the management of the West Java Chamber of Commerce (Kadin Jabar) has entered its final stage at the Bandung District Court. Nizar's legal representative submitted additional evidence, hoping the panel of judges will decide the case based on the trial's facts. Nizar's lawyer, Jhon Sitepu, stated that the additional evidence was presented during the trial on Thursday, September 10, 2026. "I estimate that this trial will be completed in about two weeks. Hopefully, the ending will be pleasant," Jhon said after the trial. When asked about the possibility of outside parties intervening in the verdict, Jhon expressed his hope that it would not happen, stating, "I believe that the panel of judges will be professional in deciding this case." Jhon, along with Tri Laksono, submitted two pieces of additional evidence. These documents include materials related to efforts to resolve the dispute internally before the case was brought to court. Tri mentioned that one piece of proof is a letter to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) requesting an audience regarding the resolution of the Kadin Jabar dispute. Nizar's legal team explained that internal mediation had been attempted but did not result in a settlement, leading to the decision to file a lawsuit. The dispute originated from the emergence of two Provincial Congresses (Muprov) of the West Java Chamber of Commerce on September 24, 2025. The Muprov held at the Grand Preanger Hotel Bandung selected Nizar Sungkar as the Chairman of Kadin Jabar. This event was conducted by an interim management or caretaker committee formed by Kadin Indonesia through a decision letter dated April 30, 2025. On the same day, another Muprov in Bogor selected Almer Faiq Rusydi. Kadin Indonesia subsequently confirmed Almer as the Chairman of Kadin Jabar. Nizar questioned this decision, arguing that he should have been confirmed as he was considered to have fulfilled the basic budget, household budget, and regulations of the Kadin organization. In his lawsuit, Nizar is demanding compensation for material and immaterial losses, with the claim for immaterial losses reaching IDR 20 billion. The lawsuit names several parties, including the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Anindya Bakrie, and Erwin Aksa, the caretaker element of Kadin Jabar, and Almer Faiq Rusydi. Separately, the Muprov in Bogor was also sued by the Garut and Indramayu regional Kadin at the South Jakarta District Court for alleged violations of Kadin's Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART).
