Marcos declares holidays in 7 localities for July, August

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared special non-working days in four municipalities and three cities across the country for the remainder of July and the first week of August through separate proclamations. Under Proclamation No. 1349, July 20, Monday, is a special non-working day in the Municipality of Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, to mark its 77th founding anniversary. Marcos also designated July 20 as a special non-working day in the City of Digos, Davao del Sur, through Proclamation No. 1350 to mark the Padigosan Festival, originally scheduled for July 19, which falls on a Sunday. To enable the people of Digos City to fully observe the occasion, the Office of the Mayor of Digos requested that July 20 be declared a special non-working day instead of July 19. Proclamation No. 1351 declares July 21, Tuesday, a special non-working day in the Municipality of General Nakar, Quezon, to mark its founding anniversary. Proclamation No. 1346 declares July 22, Wednesday, a special non-working day in the Municipality of Mutia, Zamboanga del Norte, to mark the 66th Araw ng Mutia. Marcos also issued Proclamation No. 1352, declaring July 22 a special non-working day in the Municipality of Pililla, Rizal, for its town fiesta and founding anniversary. The president also designated July 25, Saturday, a special non-working day in the City of Santiago, Isabela, through Proclamation No. 1347 to allow residents to celebrate Aggaw na Naturales Day, the city’s annual founding anniversary celebration. Marcos also issued Proclamation No. 1348, declaring Aug. 4, Tuesday, a special non-working day in the City of Cabuyao, Laguna, to mark its 14th cityhood anniversary. LIST: 2026 regular holidays, special non-working days By authority of the President, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamation Nos. 1346 to 1348 on July 9, and Proclamation No. 1349, on July 13. Proclamations No. 1350 and 1351 were signed on July 14, while Proclamation No. 1352 was signed on July 16. Under the rules of the Department of Labor and Employment, the “no work, no pay” principle shall apply to employees who do not work during the special non-working days, unless there is a favorable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement granting payment on these special days. If employees work on one of these special non-working days, they earn 130 percent of their daily rate for the first eight hours. If it also falls on their rest day, the rate goes up to 150 percent. /mcm
