A three-day seminar titled "From Cotton Cultivation to Textile Industries" was successfully held in Magway Township, Magway Region from July 11th to 13th under the guidance of President U Min Aung Hlaing to promote domestic cotton cultivation, strengthen the textile industry, and improve the entire cotton value chain. It was closely supervised by the Union Ministers from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and MSME Development. The seminar, the first of its kind under the current government, brought together 304 representatives from government ministries, regional governments, cotton growers, seed producers, manufacturers, textile businesses and industry experts. During the seminar, the participants discussed key challenges and solutions, including fertilizer and irrigation needs, mechanization, quality cotton seed production, market stability, investment promotion, reliable electricity, advanced textile technologies, skilled workforce development, and expanding domestic cotton production. It was followed by the additional discussion by Sagaing, Magway and Mandalay Region Chief Ministers. The Union Ministers then provided detailed responses to the participants' questions and discussions. President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the seminar on July 12 and 13, reviewed recommendations, coordinated with relevant ministries and industry stakeholders to accelerate implementation. The President also visited cotton cultivation and production exhibitions. He reviewed the seminar's recommendations and instructed relevant ministries and stakeholders to implement the identified priorities. Emphasizing that cotton cultivation is of strategic importance to the country's economy, the President urged relevant ministries, cotton farmers, and industry stakeholders to work together to achieve target yields per acre and boost national economic development. The President later met with entrepreneurs from cotton industry.
