New School Year Begins, Vietnam Focuses on Education Reform and Future Investment

Vietnam commenced its 2026–2027 academic year with a strong emphasis on educational reform. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, speaking at the opening ceremony at Muong Khuong Inter-level Boarding School in Muong Khuong commune, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, stressed the necessity for every school, classroom, teacher, and student to substantively engage in reform. In border communes of the northern mountainous province of Son La, the joy of returning to school this year is even greater as students can study, eat and stay at a new and modern boarding school equipped with adequate facilities and amenities. This highlights efforts to improve educational access in mountainous regions. The opening of the new school year also underscored the enduring relevance of President Ho Chi Minh's message: "The future of the nation greatly depends on the education and efforts of its younger generation." Investing in children's education is viewed as a crucial investment in the country's future development, as every student who has the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop can help shape the country of tomorrow. In parallel with domestic educational initiatives, Vietnam has been active on the diplomatic front. On September 5, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam officially welcomed President Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar and his spouse Kyu Kyu Hla to Hanoi. This engagement signifies Vietnam's commitment to regional cooperation. Earlier, on September 4, President To Lam met with outgoing French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet, acknowledging his contributions to strengthening bilateral relations during his three-year tenure. Furthermore, President To Lam is scheduled to visit Russia from September 7-9, a trip anticipated to significantly advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia. These diplomatic engagements reflect Vietnam's strategy to foster international cooperation for economic growth and national development. The recent celebration of Vietnam's 81st National Day on September 2 also served as a moment for citizens to reconnect with the nation's history, remember the sacrifices of earlier generations, and reflect on the value of independence and peace today. Thousands of people visited historic and cultural landmarks across Hanoi, including 48 Hang Ngang Street, Ba Dinh Square, Hoa Lo Prison Relic, and the Temple of Literature, reinforcing national pride and historical consciousness.
