Da Nang Launches Month to Hear Workers' Voices, Promoting Dialogue for Better Wages and Conditions

To commemorate the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026), the Da Nang City Federation of Labor launched a series of activities titled "Month to Hear Workers' Voices" on July 25th across the city. This initiative serves as a practical forum for union members and workers to directly express their thoughts, aspirations, difficulties, and concerns. It also allows them to voice suggestions related to employment, wages, income, working conditions, social security, material and spiritual well-being, as well as their legal and legitimate rights and interests. The activity aims to innovate the operational methods of the trade union organization, moving towards greater proximity to union members and grassroots levels. The satisfaction of union members and workers, and the effectiveness of resolving their suggestions, will serve as benchmarks for the organization's performance. Within the framework of the program, the City Federation of Labor will host three direct dialogue and consultation conferences with union members and workers in key industrial zones and economic zones, expecting approximately 850 participants. At the "Hear Workers' Voices" conference held on the morning of July 25th in Ban Thach ward, Da Nang city, attended by numerous union members and workers from Thuan Yen, Tam Thang, and Dong Que Son industrial parks, several issues were raised. Ms. Huynh Thi Tinh from Celebrity Fashion Vina Co., Ltd., located in Tam Thang Industrial Park, pointed out that the basic salary is calculated based on 26 working days, yet workers often labor for 27 days per month without adequate compensation for the extra day. She urged the trade unions at all levels to address this discrepancy. Ms. Truong Thi Thuy from Thuan Yen Industrial Park highlighted an issue concerning the collection of fees for the 2026 Disaster Prevention and Control Fund, as stipulated by Decision No. 2051/QD-UBND dated June 5, 2026, of the Da Nang City People's Committee. Workers who paid their fees at the commune/ward level did not receive receipts. Consequently, upon returning to their companies, they were compelled to pay again due to the lack of proof. Ms. Thuy requested the Da Nang City Federation of Labor to devise a solution to assist workers in this situation. Furthermore, many union members and workers presented concerns regarding housing, childcare facilities, cultural institutions, preferential loan capital, job placement, vocational training, occupational safety and health, working environment, food safety, social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, labor laws, and other support policies. These issues were presented to the Da Nang City Federation of Labor and relevant departments for consideration and resolution. Relevant authorities listened to the opinions, engaged in discussions, and provided immediate responses to matters within their purview at the conference. Issues exceeding their authority were compiled, categorized, and forwarded to the competent authorities for review and resolution. Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Federation of Labor, stated that the conference is not only an occasion for union members and workers to express their difficulties but also a platform for trade unions at all levels, functional agencies, and employers to exchange, share, and find appropriate solutions to build an increasingly safe, stable, and developed working environment. "Listening will only be truly meaningful when the opinions and suggestions of union members and workers are seriously received and followed up on until resolution. The City Federation of Labor will fully synthesize the content, categorize it by sector, and coordinate with competent agencies to urge, monitor, and report on the resolution results," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh. In parallel with the city-level activities, trade unions at the commune and ward levels, as well as grassroots unions, will simultaneously organize meetings, dialogues, worker conferences, community meals, and appreciation activities, and care for workers in accordance with the specific conditions of each unit. Through the "Month to Hear Workers' Voices" in 2026, the Da Nang City Federation of Labor continues to affirm its role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. It aims to strengthen dialogue and build harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations, contributing to the successful achievement of the city's socio-economic development goals in the new era.
