Cambodia Commemorates Ranger Day, Reaffirming Commitment to Nature Conservation
Cambodia's Ministry of Environment and the International Conservation Organization (CI) commemorated Ranger Day at the Preytulng Wildlife Sanctuary, honoring the vital role of rangers. Their dedication and achievements in the face of global environmental changes were highlighted.
The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the International Conservation Organization (CI) and other partner organizations, organized and celebrated Ranger Day 2026 on July 31, 2026, at the Preytulng Sun Office, located within the Preytulng Wildlife Sanctuary in Kampong Thom province. The theme for Ranger Day 2026 was "Ranger Officers: Nature Defenders in a Changing Global Context, Wellbeing and Voluntary Commitment." This event was held to encourage and recognize the crucial role of ranger officers, who serve as the frontline force in protecting Cambodia's forests, wildlife, biodiversity, and natural resources. As a long-standing conservation partner, CI continues to cooperate closely with the Ministry of Environment, local communities, indigenous peoples, and all relevant partners in strengthening the management of natural protected areas in line with human rights principles, biodiversity conservation, building community resilience, and promoting sustainable livelihoods. The event was attended by leaders and specialized officials from the Ministry of Environment, provincial administration, representatives of environmental departments, ranger officers, authorities, and relevant partners, totaling approximately 140 participants. Attendees gathered to celebrate the essential work and role of ranger officers in protecting natural resources. During the ceremony, representatives of the ranger officers delivered a commitment message, showcasing practical actions in patrolling and cracking down on illegal activities. Seedlings were also distributed, and tree planting took place at the event site. By: Noy Nuon (Source: CI) © All rights reserved by National News Agency of Cambodia 2018
