Cambodian Senate President Congratulates Vietnam on National Day, Reaffirms Bilateral Ties

PHNOM PENH, Aug 31, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen has extended congratulations to Vietnam’s top leader To Lam ahead of the country’s National Day on September 2, praising Hanoi’s achievements under his leadership and reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. In a letter addressed to To Lam, who is General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam, Samdech Techo conveyed greetings on behalf of Cambodia’s Senate and people, as well as in his own name. He commended Vietnam’s progress in maintaining political stability, advancing economic and social development and improving living standards, while also enhancing its role and standing in regional and international affairs. Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted the longstanding relationship between the two neighbours, describing it as built on good‑neighbourliness, traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation. He said the partnership was founded on mutual trust, understanding, respect and support, and expressed confidence it would continue to grow in the interests of both countries and their peoples. The Senate president reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with To Lam to further strengthen friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam. He concluded the letter by wishing the Vietnamese leader good health, happiness and success, and expressed hopes for continued peace, progress and prosperity for the Vietnamese people.
