Vietnam Continues Efforts to Recover Fallen Soldiers' Remains in Border Areas

Efforts to collect and identify the remains of fallen soldiers are continuing in various locations across Vietnam, particularly in the northern province of Lang Son. Despite challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions, the political system, the military, and residents of border areas are working together to advance this "journey of remembrance." This initiative serves not only as a national gesture of tribute but also promotes national unity. Bringing the remains of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in past wars back to their homeland is an act of respect for the nation's history and its people's sacrifices. Specific activities reported include the collection of 571 sets of remains at Le Thi Rieng Park, a cooperation agreement by Military Region 9 for the search and collection of remains in Cambodia, the "500 Days and Nights Campaign" which has collected over 2,000 sets of remains and is accelerating identification, the collection of 20 sets of remains in Quang Tri province, and the gathering of information and historical materials for the collection of remains at K30 Fortress in Lao Cai province. These activities highlight the importance Vietnam's one-party system places on national unity and the inheritance of historical memory. While economic growth continues, such efforts to heal the wounds of past wars and strengthen national cohesion are considered an indispensable element for maintaining domestic stability.
