Vietnam's 'Three-Legged Stool' Strategy to Protect Children in Digital Space

This strategy, often referred to as the "three-legged stool," is built upon three key pillars: education, technology, and legal frameworks. On the education front, programs are being enhanced to raise awareness among children, parents, and educators about safe online behavior, digital literacy, and potential risks. This includes guidance on protecting personal information online, dealing with cyberbullying, and identifying credible information sources. Technologically, in collaboration with platform providers, efforts are underway to improve the detection and removal of inappropriate content and to foster safer online environments for children. This could involve implementing age restrictions and developing tools to limit access to harmful material. Legally, measures such as increased penalties for spreading false or misleading information online, and potentially permanent suspension of malicious accounts, are being considered. The aim is to maintain the integrity of the social media landscape and create a safer environment for young users.
