Hiep Hoa Commune in Bac Ninh Province Established as Western Growth Hub

In Vietnam's northern Bac Ninh Province, Hiep Hoa Commune has been officially established as Hiep Hoa Ward. The announcement was made at a ceremony held in Hiep Hoa Commune on the evening of September 12, following a resolution by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly. This establishment aims to position Hiep Hoa Ward as a new growth pole in the western part of Bac Ninh Province. Bac Ninh Province has experienced rapid industrialization and urbanization in recent years, notably attracting significant foreign direct investment (FDI) from companies like Samsung Electronics, which has driven its economic growth. However, the benefits have tended to concentrate in urban areas, making the correction of regional disparities a key challenge. The establishment of Hiep Hoa Ward is seen as a strategic step to address these imbalances in regional development and promote balanced growth across the province. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the government implements long-term national development plans, including the establishment of economic zones, infrastructure development, and administrative boundary adjustments, to revitalize regional economies. The transformation of Hiep Hoa Ward from a "revolutionary land" into a modern urban area will serve as an example of how Vietnam aims to overcome domestic development disparities while sustaining economic growth. In the past, similar upgrades to new wards and administrative realignments have occurred in other districts within Bac Ninh Province. Examples include the vision for Yen Phong district to become a growth pole as part of Bac Ninh City, and the case of Bo Ha commune being upgraded to a ward.
