Cambodian Red Cross Holds First Aid Instructor Training Course

The Cambodian Red Cross has opened a three-day training course for First Aid Instructors at its headquarters, running from September 8-10, 2026. The course aims to train instructors from the central level, 25 provincial/municipal branches, and related institutions, with 69 participants attending. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Pum Chantynee, Secretary General of the Cambodian Red Cross. The objectives of this training course are: 1. To understand the importance of using machines and to clearly train CPR with AED for life-saving. 2. For expert first aid instructors to train more first aid instructors at the branch level, providing them with new skills and knowledge to disseminate to the community. 3. To review the techniques for providing timely and effective first aid to victims, in line with current global technical standards. 4. The training of first aid instructors is highly significant for assessing trainers' capabilities to teach further, in accordance with the directives of the Royal Government and the Ministry of Education on Standard Operating Procedures for promoting health and safety in learning and teaching in clusters for public and private educational institutions. 5. The Cambodian Red Cross has developed a First Aid App and online learning for digitalized first aid updates. 6. To integrate Psychological First Aid (PFA) training for consistent results in communication, workshop participation, and updating with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). To review the implementation by instructors based on the First Aid Framework 2024-2030, and to promote and enhance the observance of World First Aid Day. The goal is to achieve the Red Cross's 2030 strategy of having at least one person per family knowledgeable in first aid. Specifically, this training aims to equip the 25 provincial/municipal branches with clear expertise and new knowledge, such as the use of AED and the care of blast injury victims, which are valuable for branch development and progress. It is recalled that basic first aid is fundamental to caring for the health of the people, families, victims, patients, at workplaces, and in communities, which are frequently encountered in daily life. Basic first aid provides services and transfers knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be used appropriately according to community resources, to raise awareness of first aid, and to disseminate it widely with the goal of saving lives during accidents and illnesses, facilitating easier treatment by medical professionals, and reducing suffering and fatalities.
