Dien Bien Intersection Expansion Project Faces Delay Risk

In Dien Bien province, northwestern Vietnam, the traffic safety and intersection expansion project at the junction of National Highway 12 and Pham Van Dong Street is facing a risk of delay from its original schedule due to setbacks in land acquisition. The project was officially commenced on December 3, 2025, with a target completion date of December 3, 2026. However, as of the current time, the implementing agency, the Dien Bien Department of Construction, has not yet received the project site. This delay in land handover poses a significant threat to the project's overall progress, making it difficult to achieve completion as planned. Infrastructure development is considered crucial for economic growth in Vietnam, with transportation network improvements in rural areas being vital for regional economic revitalization and enhanced logistics efficiency. However, land acquisition delays are a common challenge for many infrastructure projects across Vietnam, often leading to increased costs and extended construction periods. Dien Bien province currently has nearly 300 ongoing projects, with a total estimated capital requirement of nearly 1,000 billion VND (approximately 60 million USD). The intersection expansion project is one such project that requires prompt resolution.
