Vietnam Opens New Command Center for Border Control, Leveraging AI

A new Command, Operation, and Combat Center for Immigration Management has been established in Vietnam. This center is poised to serve as a crucial physical, technological, and organizational foundation, enabling the immigration management force to innovate its methods of leadership, command, operation, and combat, thereby better meeting the demands of safeguarding national security and serving the people in the new era. This initiative aligns with Vietnam's policy objectives under the one-party system of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which aims to protect national sovereignty and security while simultaneously promoting economic growth and improving the lives of its citizens. The modernization of border management, in particular, has gained increasing significance with the country's rapid economic development and strengthened international ties in recent years. The establishment of the center aims to expedite immigration procedures, enhance the detection capabilities for illegal entrants, and bolster border security through the utilization of AI and the latest IT technologies. This holds strategic importance, especially given Vietnam's extensive shared border with China and the constant need to address regional security challenges. Furthermore, as countries worldwide, including the EU with its new entry/exit system, advance their border control capabilities, Vietnam's move signals its intent to keep pace and strengthen international cooperation.
