Vietnam Nears Completion of Nationwide Legal Document Review

Vietnam's Ministry of Justice has instructed relevant agencies to complete the final report on the nationwide review of central-level legal normative documents by July 27. This directive was issued on July 23 via Official Document No. 5620/CQTTBCĐ, signed by Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Tinh, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for the nationwide review of legal normative documents. The review process aims to ensure the coherence and effectiveness of Vietnam's legal system. Among the 474 documents reviewed, numerous provisions, particularly in the field of science and technology, have been identified for proposed amendments. This undertaking reflects Vietnam's ongoing efforts to refine its legal framework, which underpins its economic growth within a one-party system. The prompt revision and amendment of legal documents are crucial for improving the investment climate and fostering innovation in a rapidly evolving economy. Recently, the Supreme People's Court announced the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist in the review of legal normative documents, indicating progress towards streamlining and modernizing the legal system. This comprehensive review can be seen as part of Vietnam's strategy to strengthen its domestic legal framework and pursue sustainable growth amidst its complex relationship with China and broader regional dynamics.
