Truck Crashes into Stationary Motorbikes at Train Crossing in Battambang, Killing One and Injuring Another

A tragic accident occurred in Battambang province, western Cambodia, when a large cargo truck rear-ended stationary motorbikes at a train crossing, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury. The incident took place around 1 PM on September 20th, at a railway crossing in O'Donban 1 village, Sangke district. According to local traffic authorities, the accident was caused by a large cargo truck, identified as a "VeoUng" type, with Phnom Penh license plates "3B-7660" for the truck and "4A-4811" for the trailer, which collided with the motorbikes stopped at the crossing. The driver, identified as Prak Chan, 41, residing in Prey Chhor village, Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham province, was apprehended at the scene. The victims on the motorbike were identified as Nem Vanna, 48, male (injured), and Vanh Nara, 36, male (deceased), both residents of Oukchey village, O'Donban 1 village, Sangke district. Sangke District Police Chief Yut Thong Ho stated that the truck was the primary cause of the accident. He confirmed that the motorbikes had stopped at the railway crossing when the cargo truck, seemingly without noticing or slowing down, sped into them from behind. The impact caused the motorbikes to fall, and the truck ran over the head of one of the riders, causing a fatal injury. The truck driver was immediately arrested by police at the scene.
