Vietnam-Laos Friendship Celebrated in Russia on Vietnam's National Day

On September 15, in Moscow, the Embassy of Laos in the Russian Federation organized a delegation to visit and congratulate the Ambassador and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Ambassador of Laos to the Russian Federation Shiphandone Oybuabuddy led the delegation. At the meeting, Ambassador Shiphandone Oybuabuddy congratulated Vietnam on its significant achievements in socio-economic development and enhancement of its national standing. He also extended greetings to Ambassador Đặng Minh Khôi and the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation on this major national holiday of Vietnam. The Lao Ambassador emphasized the tradition of solidarity, attachment, and special friendship between the two Parties, states, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos. He affirmed that sharing joy on each other's major holidays is a vivid manifestation of the special relationship between the two nations. Thanking the Ambassador and the delegation from the Lao Embassy for their congratulations on Vietnam's National Day, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Đặng Minh Khôi highlighted the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, which has been carefully nurtured by generations of leaders and people from both countries and is always cherished and preserved by Vietnam. Ambassador Đặng Minh Khôi stated that 2026 holds significant importance for Vietnam. He reviewed the outstanding results of the recent State visit to the Russian Federation by General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and his spouse, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, emphasizing that the visit had special significance and contributed to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia. The Ambassador also shared with the Lao side that the International Peace Prize named after the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy will award General Secretary and President Tô Lâm the International Peace Prize Leo Tolstoy in 2026. He stressed that this is a recognition and high appreciation from the international community, particularly Russia, of the efforts and contributions of Vietnam and General Secretary and President Tô Lâm personally in building a just world order based on international law, for peace, stability, and development in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world. Both sides expressed their joy at the close ties and mutual support between the Vietnamese and Lao Embassies in the Russian Federation. They exchanged views on directions to enhance coordination between the two representative missions, thereby contributing to further nurturing and promoting the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic connection between Vietnam and Laos.
