According to the DOH on Wednesday, the move is in line with Department Personnel Order No. 2026-4726, where officials were given interim assignments for the continuation of its normal operations. "The interim assignments cover the DOH Central Office, Centers for Health Development, and selected operating units to strengthen coordination and support the delivery of health programs nationwide," the department said in a press release. "Throughout the transition, all DOH offices, hospitals, attached agencies, and specialty centers will continue to provide uninterrupted services," it added. "The health challenges we face require an Agency that listens, acts decisively, and works as one organization," Pujalte said in a press release. "Following the directive of President Bongbong Marcos, our focus is to deliver services fast, work closely with our partners, and translate policies into concrete action that improves the lives of Filipinos," he added. The Palace on Monday announced the appointment of Pujalte as the new Health chief following the resignation of former Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa due to health reasons. Pujalte has been working in the DOH for 35 years. He earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines – College of Medicine. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business. He completed his orthopedic residency at the Philippine Orthopedic Center in Quezon City in 1994.
