A man wanted for rape was apprehended in Bacoor City, Cavite. Authorities also recovered suspected methamphetamine and an unlicensed firearm, with the suspect now facing additional charges for drug and firearms violations.

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Police arrested a 42-year-old man facing a rape complaint and recovered suspected shabu (crystal methamphetamine) and an unlicensed firearm during an operation in Bacoor City, Cavite, on Friday. The suspect, identified only by the alias “Randy,” was arrested by police operatives in Barangay Queensrow East on Friday afternoon, the Calabarzon police said in a report Saturday. According to the police, the arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by a 16-year-old girl, accompanied by her mother, who alleged that the suspect raped her inside his house on June 24. Authorities said the suspect allegedly resisted arrest but was eventually subdued by the arresting officers. He sustained minor injuries during the incident. The suspect allegedly yielded four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated value of P13,600, as well as an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun. The suspect is now under police custody and is facing charges in connection with the rape complaint, as well as separate complaints for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the law on illegal possession of firearms. In the broader context of the Philippines, crime, particularly drug-related offenses and illegal firearms, remains a significant security concern. While the government continues to enhance law enforcement efforts to combat these issues, the prevalence of crime at the local level persists as a challenge.
