The mayor of Baggao, Cagayan has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday due to the threat of Tropical Storm Maymay, citing the possibility of heavy downpour.
TUGUEGARAO CITY- The mayor of Baggao, Cagayan has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools from 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5 until Thursday, August 6 due to the threat of Tropical Storm Maymay (international name: Kujira). Mayor Leonardo Pattung said the suspension is due to possible heavy downpour. This measure is part of the usual preparations undertaken in the Philippines, an archipelago prone to tropical cyclones, especially during the rainy season. Such suspensions are common to ensure the safety of students and the community from potential hazards like flash floods and landslides, which can be exacerbated by heavy rainfall.
