Myanmar-Japan discuss parliamentary cooperation

The Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, U Khin Ri, received and met with a delegation led by Honorable Mr. Takei Shunsuke, a member of the Japanese House of Representatives, on the afternoon of September 14 at the reception hall of the People's Hluttaw Building within the Parliament complex in Nay Pyi Taw. During the meeting, discussions were held on parliamentary exchanges between the two countries, relations between parliamentary committees, and cooperation in the sectors of youth, women, and technology. Furthermore, the Speaker of the People's Hluttaw stated that both nations have had diplomatic relations since December 1, 1954, and are friendly countries with a long-standing tradition of good and strong friendly relations. He added that both countries have cooperated in all sectors, and their peoples have also been closely acquainted. The Speaker also mentioned that the Myanmar-Japan Friendship Association of Parliamentarians has already been formed to foster friendly relations with the Japanese House of Representatives, and this represents the first step in cooperation between the two parliaments. The Speaker of the People's Hluttaw stated that for both countries, which have maintained good relations for a long time with friendship, there will be no difficulties in efforts to re-enhance relations. Following this, the member of the Japanese House of Representatives stated that efforts will be made to promote cooperation between the two parliaments. He also commented that upon visiting Myanmar, he observed peaceful and stable conditions, which differ from the news circulating externally. Therefore, he indicated that efforts will be made to resume tourism, which is crucial for enhancing bilateral relations, and to allow for the study of Myanmar's beautiful and rich nature and culture. The member of the Japanese House of Representatives stated that there are over 100,000 Myanmar workers in Japan, and they have earned good reputations due to their diligence and good conduct. He further stated that the purpose of this visit is to resume tourism between the two countries, enhance cooperation in human resources and economy, and to re-strengthen bilateral relations and people-to-people exchanges.
