Approximately 11,000 people gathered at the National Monument (Monas) area in central Jakarta on Saturday (8/6) for what was termed the 'National Unity Rally to Defend Jakarta for Indonesia.' The event aimed to advocate for the stability of the capital city and the unity of Indonesia. The rally was led by the Chief of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, and the Commander of the Jaya Regional Military Command, Lieutenant General TNI Deddy Suryadi. Participants included around 4,800 representatives from various social organizations (Ormas), such as Forkabi and Pemuda Pancasila, approximately 3,000 online motorcycle taxi drivers, about 200 students, 300 security guards, and around 700 laborers. CNN Indonesia observed that participants began arriving at the Monas area as early as 7:00 AM Western Indonesian Time. Many attendees wore headbands bearing their respective organizations' symbols, as well as red and white headbands symbolizing the Indonesian flag, creating a sense of unity. This rally reflects the understanding within Indonesia's political and social context that the stability of the capital is crucial for the stability of the nation. Jakarta, being the political and economic heart of Indonesia, significantly influences the entire country.
