Siem Reap Province Holds Training on Administration and Funeral Assistance for Ex-Servicemen and Retirees

The Association of Cambodian Veterans and Retirees launched a training program on administration and funeral assistance (Morana Sangkrouh) work on the morning of July 23, 2026, for leaders and officials responsible for the 13 districts and municipalities in Siem Reap Province. The training aims to strengthen professional capacity, administrative procedures, and the management of the funeral assistance fund to be more transparent, timely, and highly effective in responding to the needs of veteran and retiree members. His Excellency Uch Sok, Deputy Prime Minister, Vice President, and Secretary-General of the Association of Cambodian Veterans and Retirees, stated that the association is a key institution that plays an important role in caring for the well-being of veterans who have contributed to the nation. In response to technological advancements and the government's deep administrative reforms, administrative and funeral assistance officials are crucial staff who directly interact with the lives of veterans and retirees. Therefore, they must perform their duties with compassion, loyalty, and the highest responsibility, facilitating administrative procedures for funeral assistance payments without delay, to avoid hardship for the bereaved families. He also emphasized the need to enhance internal cooperation and solidarity between offices and relevant ministries. In case of challenges or irregularities, they must be reported to the leadership immediately for timely resolution. His Excellency further stated that veterans and retirees are individuals who have made immense contributions to the nation. Therefore, all administrative services provided to them must be done with sincerity and high responsibility. Mr. Nhek Neroun, Vice President of the Association of Cambodian Veterans and Retirees, presented the achievements of the association in Siem Reap Province, indicating that as of July 2026, there are a total of 9,334 Cambodian veterans and 12,475 dependents. Of these, 6,598 veterans are members of the association (as of July 2026), including 1,923 disabled individuals, 2,714 retirees, 138 individuals who lost work capacity, 1,645 families of fallen soldiers, and 178 families of deceased veterans. There are 2,726 veterans who are not members, including 696 retirees, 42 disabled individuals, 1,119 families of fallen soldiers, and 869 families of deceased veterans. He specified that during the first half of 2026, up to July, the Siem Reap Provincial Association of Veterans and Retirees disbursed funeral assistance totaling 496,000,000 Riel (approximately $124,000 USD) to 124 bereaved families of its members. This includes 348,000,000 Riel from Samdech Techo, the President of the Association, for 87 cases, and 148,000,000 Riel from the funeral assistance fund for 37 cases.
