Number of deaths due to traffic accidents decreases in Kachin

It has been learned from the office of the Deputy Commander of the 15th Traffic Police Sub-Unit (Kachin) that the number of deaths due to traffic accidents in Kachin State has decreased this year. In Kachin State, there were 43 injured and 42 deaths due to traffic accidents in 2025 (※original text), while this year there have been 34 injured and 13 deaths due to traffic accidents, according to reports. Police Major Min Yan Htun, Deputy Commander of the 15th Traffic Police Sub-Unit, stated that this decrease is due to the extensive implementation of awareness campaigns. (Interview) It is reported that a total of 59 awareness lectures were conducted from 2024 to the present in 2026 to ensure understanding and compliance with traffic and road rules within the state. Furthermore, on July 31st, an awareness campaign on traffic and road rules and a motorcycle helmet campaign were conducted in front of the No. 8 Basic Education High School on the main Swamprabum road, and motorcycle helmets were distributed free of charge. This program was carried out under the leadership of the Kachin State Government, with the attendance of Kachin State Chief Minister U Khate Htain Nan, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, and responsible officials. Free distribution of motorcycle helmets, awareness activities, and distribution of leaflets on traffic/road rules were conducted.
