Suspect Arrested in Ho Chi Minh City Family Homicide

In a tragic incident in Ho Chi Minh City, police have arrested a 24-year-old man, Nguyen Tri Hao, on suspicion of murder. Hao is accused of killing the father of his ex-girlfriend and severely injuring her mother and brother-in-law. Initial investigations reveal that Hao had been in a relationship with the daughter of the victim, Mr. Pham Hong Thai, 72. Hao had a history of drug addiction and underwent mandatory rehabilitation. Upon his return, he learned that his ex-girlfriend had married, which reportedly led to his anger and a plan for revenge. On the afternoon of September 13, after consuming alcohol, Hao went to his ex-girlfriend's house armed with a knife, intending to find her. He was unable to locate her but proceeded to attack Mr. Thai, fatally wounding him. The victim's wife, Ms. Le Thi Muoi, 58, and son-in-law, Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, 34, who attempted to intervene, were also severely injured. Notably, Linh's wife, her sister, and their children had visited neighbors about 10 minutes before the incident, thus avoiding harm. Hao was apprehended by police over 20 kilometers away from the crime scene approximately three hours after the incident.
