Cambodia Ministry of Labor Brings Job Opportunities and TVET Programs to Local Communities

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training of Cambodia is continuously implementing initiatives to improve citizens' livelihoods and stimulate the national economy. On Saturday, September 5th, the ministry organized a significant event in Thma Bang District, Koh Kong Province, bringing nearly 1,000 job opportunities, information on the benefits of the Social Security Scheme (B.S.S.), and details about Vocational Training and Education Programs (TVET) directly to local communities. Approximately 500 residents, particularly returning migrant workers from Thailand and young job seekers, attended the event held at the Russey Chum High School premises. Speaking at a forum themed "Khmer Helps Find Jobs and Gives Jobs to Khmer," Pan Nora, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, stated that the government, with the Ministry of Labor as its arm, consistently prioritizes improving the living standards of its people and boosting the national economy through job creation. He highlighted that over 90,000 domestic job openings are currently available across enterprises, companies, and factories nationwide, allowing citizens to apply, interview, and secure employment immediately. Nora emphasized that this initiative brings job opportunities "to the doorstep, to the local community." Beyond wages and various benefits, individuals can also benefit from the B.S.S. and remain with their families. This contrasts with the risks of overseas employment, which can include safety hazards, labor exploitation, inadequate health protection, discrimination, and separation from family. Furthermore, young individuals can enroll in free skills training courses through the "TVET 1.5 Million" program at the Koh Kong Provincial Polytechnic Institute. With qualified instructors and modern learning facilities, graduates can enhance their employability or start their own businesses. For returning migrant workers with construction skills, the ministry facilitates Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments, enabling them to obtain official skill certificates and potentially earn higher incomes. In addition to domestic opportunities, the ministry continues to facilitate safe and well-compensated overseas employment. Citizens are encouraged to disseminate information about job openings, B.S.S. benefits, and TVET programs. The nearly 1,000 job opportunities were provided by companies such as KKNN Apparel Co., Ltd., Vanly Tire (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., and Vattanac Bank (Koh Kong Branch), as well as labor recruitment agencies for overseas employment like Mongkol H.H. Company.
