Vietnam Seeks Stronger Parliamentary Ties with US, Malaysia
Vietnam is seeking to strengthen parliamentary relations with the United States and Malaysia. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man called on US Ambassador Jennifer Wicks to leverage her role by working closely with Vietnamese authorities to promote all-level mutual visits and meetings, especially between high-ranking leaders, while establishing a regular and substantive dialogue mechanism between the two legislative bodies. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stressed that Vietnam attaches great importance to fostering its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Malaysia in a stable, sustainable and long-term manner, while receiving Malaysian Minister of Defence Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin in Hanoi. These moves underscore Vietnam's strategic intent to deepen diplomatic ties through legislative channels, seeking to bolster its international standing and economic trajectory. Under its one-party system, while top leadership steers foreign policy, parliamentary engagement offers a pathway to enhance public accountability and broaden international cooperation. Separately, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has called for strong reforms of infrastructure planning and development, emphasizing its role as a decisive factor in enhancing national competitiveness.
