Vietnam Accelerates Free Health Check-ups to Boost Public Health

Vietnam is accelerating the implementation of free regular health check-up programs nationwide, aiming to enhance public health and well-being. This initiative is in line with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025, issued by the Politburo, concerning "Breakthrough Solutions to Strengthen the Protection, Care, and Improvement of People's Health." Particular priority is being given to mountainous areas, border regions, and islands, where access to healthcare services is often limited. Special considerations are being made to ensure residents in these areas can easily receive regular health examinations. As part of the program, children under six years old will undergo additional screening for autism risk, with their health records being digitized for management. This aims to facilitate early detection and appropriate intervention. Several localities have already launched free regular health check-ups and screening tests for their residents, including Quang Tri province, Hue city, and certain areas in Hanoi (Au Dien xa). Hue city has initiated a free health check-up program set to run from 2026 to 2030. This series of measures is part of the social welfare policies promoted under Vietnam's one-party system, reflecting the national goal of improving the quality of life for its citizens alongside economic growth. In terms of foreign relations, the country emphasizes domestic stability and development while seeking to maintain and expand its regional influence.
