Dy Speaker attends State Duma parliamentary elections

Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, who is currently in the Russian Federation as an international election observer for the State Duma elections, attended an event held on September 21 at the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation. The event marked the announcement of preliminary results for the 9th State Duma parliamentary elections and included reviews of the election by international observers from the UEC and parliamentary representatives. During the event, Mrs. Ella Pamfilova, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, spoke regarding the conduct of the election. Then, international election observers, UEC chairpersons, representatives, and members of parliament shared their reviews and observations on the election. A total of 12 parties contested the 9th State Duma elections, with the United Russia party securing a majority with 57.79% of the vote, followed by the Communist Party with 13.73%. It is further reported that the Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn subsequently gave an interview to the Russia 1 TV channel.
