MOHA UM delivered the opening remarks at Anti-Corruption awareness Discussion

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) jointly held an anti-corruption awareness and discussion session at the Myanmar Police Force Headquarters, Ministry of Home Affairs, on Tuesday. Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt. Gen. Nyunt Win Swe together with ACC Chairman U Soe Thein attended the event. In his opening speech, the Union Minister said corruption hinders economic development, weakens public trust and affects the governance system. He stressed that preventing corruption is essential for the country’s long-term development and requires the commitment of all civil servants. He said the government has implemented the Anti-Corruption Law to take effective action against corruption and promote transparency, rule of law and accountability. The Union Minister urged all officials to work toward building a corruption-free organization based on honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability for national development and public interest. ACC Chairman U Soe Thein then presented the commission’s activities, while ACC officials gave presentations on corruption prevention and control measures and the Anti-Corruption Law. The presentations were followed by a question-and-answer session between participants and ACC officials. Later, ACC Member U Tin Aung Win met with members of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Corruption Prevention Unit (CPU) to discuss their work experiences, strengths, challenges and recommendations for improving corruption prevention and control efforts.
