Two Boats Collide on Mekong River in Kratie, Cambodia: One Dead, One Seriously Injured

A collision between two boats on the Mekong River in Kratie province, Cambodia, resulted in one fatality and one serious injury. The body of the deceased, who had been missing since the accident, was found floating on the water on the morning of July 31st, two days after the incident. According to local authorities, the accident occurred around 11:00 AM on July 29th near Real Island in Sambour district. The two boats involved were carrying a total of four residents from Bunchar village in Sambour district and were traveling towards each other at high speed. At the scene, due to a lack of caution, the two boats collided head-on. This severe impact caused one victim to sustain a critical head injury. Bystanders intervened and immediately transported the injured individual to Kratie Provincial Hospital for emergency treatment. Another victim fell into the river and disappeared immediately after the accident. The remaining two passengers were not seriously injured, managing to swim to safety and were rescued by villagers in time. Following the incident, authorities and residents actively conducted a search operation for the missing person for two days. On the morning of July 31st, the body was discovered floating near Kakot village in Chitt Borei district. Authorities were immediately notified, and after the specialized police conducted an autopsy, the body was handed over to the victim's relatives for traditional funeral rites at their home in Bunchar village, Sambour district.
