Vietnamese Rescue Team Finds 11 Victims in Venezuela Earthquake

Vietnamese rescue forces and their K9 units have located nine suspected casualty sites and extracted eleven victims from the rubble within twenty-four hours in the earthquake-stricken area of La Guaira, Venezuela. According to reports from the Border Guard Secondary School 24, the task force scoured the devastated ruins from 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM local time on June 30. The force was divided into five tactical units, each comprising two K9s, five military engineers, and five military medics. The operation utilized eight elite Border Guard canines and two specialized Police K9s. By 8:00 PM local time (7:00 AM on July 1 in Vietnam), the K9 units had pinpointed nine suspected locations. The field commander immediately ordered the excavation of seven of these marked sites, and rescuers carefully pulled eleven lifeless bodies from the dark wreckage, handing them over to local authorities. Excavation at the remaining two locations is ongoing. The rescue efforts were concentrated in the Playa Grande area of the Catia La Mar district in La Guaira. The Vietnamese rescue delegation fanned out in five directions, working closely with local forces across a grim 2.2-square-kilometer disaster zone. All Vietnamese officers, handlers, and K9s are reported to be safe and in good health, maintaining full readiness to complete their task. They are operating under harsh conditions, with daytime temperatures reaching 29°C and dropping to a chilly 21°C at night. Vietnam swiftly dispatched a large relief force of 124 military and police personnel on the night of June 28. This contingent included ten elite K9 units and dozens of tons of supplies.
