Cambodia Urges Equal Education and Leadership for Women and Girls
Cambodia's Minister for Women's Affairs has called for building a future where women and girls can study equally without fear and lead with confidence. This was emphasized as essential for economic development and a national priority for the entire ASEAN community.
Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women's Affairs, attended and delivered a speech at the "Voice of Cambodian Women 2026" program held on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Her Excellency shared her vision on the importance of leadership for women and girls in Cambodia and the ASEAN region, emphasizing that leadership does not start from a position or permission from others, but from recognizing one's own value, taking responsibility, and transforming ideas into action. Her Excellency stated that women's leadership is not just a women's issue, but an essential factor for development, economic needs, and a national priority for the entire ASEAN community. Women have the right to participate as decision-makers, technological innovators, entrepreneurs, peacebuilders, and architects of a common future. To promote the leadership of women and young women, Her Excellency raised five key priorities. This includes a call to collectively build a future where women and girls in Cambodia and across the ASEAN region can study equally without fear, and lead with full confidence and pride.
