Vietnam Appoints Two New Ambassadors to Timor-Leste and Multiple African Nations
Vietnam's General Secretary and President To Lam has presented appointment decisions to two new ambassadors, one to Timor-Leste and another covering multiple African nations. This move signifies Vietnam's ongoing efforts to expand its diplomatic reach and strengthen its international presence.
On the afternoon of September 18, in Hanoi, General Secretary of the Communist Party and President To Lam presided over a ceremony to present appointment decisions to two Vietnamese ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary to foreign countries. Attending the ceremony were Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, along with leaders from the Presidential Office. According to the President's decision, Mr. Pham Binh Dam, Head of the Secretariat of the APEC National Committee 2027 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed as Vietnam's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Deputy Head of the Middle East - Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed as Vietnam's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Angola, concurrently accredited to the Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Zambia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, and the Republic of Cabo Verde. These appointments underscore Vietnam's commitment to strengthening its diplomatic ties and expanding its presence on the global stage. The concurrent accreditation to multiple African nations highlights Vietnam's growing interest in the continent and its strategy to foster relationships with a diverse range of countries.
