Cambodian Senate Receives Over $1.6M in Humanitarian Aid from South Korean Foundation

The Cambodian Senate received humanitarian aid amounting to over $1.6 million (precisely $1,688,514.99) from South Korea's Global Life-Saving Sharing Foundation (GLS). This aid package includes 45 types of medicines, insecticides, and daily necessities. The handover ceremony took place on the morning of September 19, attended by Mam Bunneang, Chairman of the Senate's Commission on Investigation, Eradication of Corruption, and Public Campaign, and Min Byong Jang, the GLS representative in Cambodia. This marks the 24th humanitarian aid delivery from GLS to the Cambodian Senate. The primary objective of this humanitarian assistance is to enhance the quality of life for Cambodian citizens and foster a stable living environment. Particular focus is placed on supporting refugees, impoverished families, and vulnerable communities throughout the country. The Senate's 10th Commission and GLS first signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on humanitarian aid in 2022, with an initial framework of $10 million. Following positive evaluations of the project's effectiveness, transparency, and accountability, a second MOU was signed in 2025 to expand the aid to $50 million. Subsequently, in June 2026, a third MOU was signed to further increase the humanitarian aid to $65 million. Through their efficient cooperation, GLS has provided a total of $36,108,065.84 in humanitarian aid, including medicines, medical equipment, clothing, and daily use items, to the Cambodian Senate across 24 previous occasions. The Senate assures that all humanitarian aid is managed and distributed transparently and accountably to provincial capitals, hospitals, health centers, vulnerable individuals, and especially to refugees along the Cambodia-Thailand border, aligning with the aspirations of both the Senate and the GLS.
