Kampong Speu Marathon Draws 7,000 Participants, Raises 50 Million Riel
A "Run for Love, Run for Tourism, Run for Charity" event in Kampong Speu, Cambodia, attracted approximately 7,000 participants. The event raised 50 million Riel (approximately $12,500 USD) and aimed to promote health and community contribution.
A large-scale running event aimed at promoting community health and charity was held in Kampong Speu province, Cambodia. Approximately 7,000 citizens participated in the event, themed "Run for Love, Run for Tourism, Run for Charity," held on August 9th. The event was jointly organized by the Kampong Speu Provincial Administration, GANZBERG Company, the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), the Cambodian Athletics Federation, and the Provincial Department of Tourism, along with numerous volunteer teams. Dr. Cham Chan Soeun, the provincial governor, emphasized during the occasion that this significant event is held with the objectives of promoting health and well-being, cultivating exercise habits for robust health, reducing stress, showcasing national unity, and fostering a spirit of mutual assistance as one Khmer family, working together for Kampong Speu. He specifically highlighted the encouragement of youth participation in social work and charitable activities to create positive outcomes for society. Dr. Cham Chan Soeun further stated that the "GANZBERG Run for Unity 2026" is a movement for Cambodian people to gather and demonstrate unity, love, and charitable hearts. He elaborated that each step taken by the participants signifies more than just moving forward; it is a step towards: * Promoting the tourism potential of Kampong Speu province. * Demonstrating the unity of "One Cambodia." * Participating in community support and backing charitable activities. * Creating wonderful memories with thousands of runners. He added that registration not only makes participants runners but also makes them part of social change and heroes sharing love with others. It is also worth noting that during the "Run for Love, Run for Tourism, Run for Charity" event, approximately 7,000 participants joined, and a total of 50 million Riel was raised for the fund.
