Cambodia Accuses Immigration Officer of Facilitating Online Scammers

Phnom Penh: The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) announced on September 25, 2026, in its third statement related to the crackdown on online scam networks, that it has accused an immigration officer at Techo International Airport of facilitating the illegal entry of foreigners into Cambodia. The officer, identified as PHE PHAT PHENG, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, is alleged to have aided these individuals. The ACU stated that the accused officer also used several other aliases, including Yong Ping, Jack, Jack YP, Yong Ping Isolated, and Yong Ping Alzheimer. The unit claims that Mr. Phe facilitated the entry of certain foreigners into Cambodia through these illicit means. This development highlights ongoing efforts by Cambodian authorities to combat transnational crime and corruption, particularly concerning online scams that have become a significant issue in the region.
