Malacañang Announces 2027 Philippine Holidays

Malacañang has released a proclamation detailing the list of regular and special non-working holidays for 2027 in the Philippines. These holidays are crucial for citizens' annual planning and can impact economic activities. The regular holidays for 2027 include New Year's Day on January 1 (Friday), Good Friday on April 2 (Friday), Independence Day on June 12 (Saturday), All Saints' Day on November 1 (Monday), and Christmas Day on December 25 (Saturday). Designated as special non-working days are the Bohol Day commemoration on February 13 (Saturday), the National Rest Day on March 15 (Monday), and the President's Birthday on September 10 (Friday). These days offer opportunities for rest and community engagement. Conversely, the EDSA People Power Revolution commemoration on February 25 (Thursday) has been declared a special working day, signifying a continuation of normal socio-economic activities while remembering this historical event. Proclamations for the Islamic holidays of Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha will be issued separately once their approximate dates are determined based on the Islamic or lunar calendar, or through astronomical calculations. These holidays hold significant importance for the Muslim community in the Philippines. The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on September 8, 2026, by order of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will issue implementing guidelines for this proclamation. While holiday designations aim to provide rest and acknowledge religious and historical observances, they also affect business operations, productivity, and sectors like tourism.
