Foreign Tourist Swept Away by Waves in Vietnam, Search Underway

A 27-year-old male tourist, identified as a Chinese national, went missing on the afternoon of August 7th around 6:45 PM after being swept away by large waves while at Tuy Hoa beach with friends. The sea conditions were rough with strong winds, making rescue efforts difficult. Local authorities are continuing their search efforts. Separately, around noon on the same day, three male foreign tourists were pulled out to sea while swimming at Bai Mon beach in Dak Lak province. They became stranded on rocky outcrops and were unable to return to shore on their own. A female tourist accompanying them reported the incident, and rescue teams arrived to find all three exhausted and with multiple abrasions. They were safely rescued and received first aid. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of August 7th, the sea area from Gia Lai to Khanh Hoa province experienced localized rain and thunderstorms, with southwesterly winds at level 6 and gusts at level 8.
